Everyday we are all, what ever our age and experience, learning something new and growing in our understanding of the world. As we learn we model for our children our own attitudes to learning. This modelling has a significant impact on how our children will grow to view learning both at school and beyond.
By sharing our own excitement in finding out something new and letting our children know that we are still interested in learning new things, we encourage their own positive attitudes to learning.
Looking ahead to the exciting learning that will be happening at ISS in the coming weeks.One of the joys of being in such a multicultural environment is the chance to learn about and celebrate other cultures. The UN Day celebrations at school on Friday 10th October allows us to do this as a community and I look forward to seeing many parents here on the day.
The day ends with a communal lunch on the playground. Parents are free to take their children home at the end of this meal at 1:30 pm.
Students who are not picked will be looked after and will leave school at the normal time and in the normal way (either bus or parent pick up).
Please make sure that you have let your child's class teacher know whether you are intending take them home at 1:30 or at the end of the school day, either by bus or by pick up.
The evening before the UN Day Celebration is the UN Concert which Grade 5 will be involved with, along with the MYP and DP students. Tickets are available by clicking here

Scam warning
Singapore is one of the safest places in the world to live. Nowhere is 100% crime free however and the Singapore Police regularly update scams that are happening in Singapore . Detailed information can be found on their website . One particularly unpleasant scam is callers pretending that they have kidnapped a loved one. Hopefully no one in our community will experience this scam however if you do get a call please:
- Remain calm and contact your loved one immediately to confirm his or her safety;
- Do not transfer any money via remittance agencies, banks or any other means to the caller; and
- Call Police immediately at '999' to report the case.
