Carol Dweck in her hugely influential book Mindsets puts this well when she say: " “If parents want to give their children a gift, the best thing they can do is to teach their children to love challenges, be intrigued by mistakes, enjoy effort, and keep on learning.”
Learning at school is, of course, not limited to the students. It is important that teachers continually to learn and grow so that they can be ever more effective in helping your child to learn. Part of this is learning occurs during the in service training days during the school year. The first of these will be on Friday 12th and school will be closed on that day. Elementary School Teachers will be particularly concentrating on improving the level of student thinking skills in the classroom.
