Another example of this rich learning community was our recently held Being International literacy competition. The entrees have now been compiled into an ibook which can be downloaded from the iTunes store;

We have an action packed final week before the break coming up which begins on Sunday with the Fun Fair, is followed on Tuesday and Wednesday by the Exhibition and is concluded on Friday by our Student Council inspired Pyjama Day.
Fun Fair
The Fun Fair is here. I look forward to seeing you all at Paterson from 12 noon until 4 pm. Those of you who stay until the end will even get a chance to dunk me in the water tank!
The Elementary School will be supporting two local charities through this event. The aim of supporting these charities is to build long term sustainable links between the school and local charities.
As last year, we will therefore be again supporting Playeum in their work which reaches disadvantaged children through innovative and educational play based approaches, and changes their lives as a result of such engagement.

The second 50% will go to the Singapore Food Bank in response to the current Student Council work with this organisation. The Food Bank Singapore strives to bridge the gap in the market by collecting surplus food in the market and providing it to organisations and people in need of food.

Both organisations offer volunteering possibilities and I would encourage interested families to become involved.
Pyjama Day Friday 18th March
The Elementary School will also be supporting the Singapore Food Bank via Pyjama Day on Friday. Students who pay a $3 donation or donate food can come to school on Friday in pyjamas. Students can bring their $3 or food into their class teachers from Wednesday onwards. I am very pleased to say that this initiative is the result of the work of our Grade 1 and 2 Student Council and a great example of our youngest students taking action to make the world a better place.
Exhibition
The central idea for this year's Exhibition is: A better world depends on our actions.
The Exhibition is the culminating assessment of the PYP where our Grade 5 students get to apply what they have learnt to inquire deeply into an area of interest to them and take action as the result of what the have found out.
This year the Exhibition will be in the MPR this coming Tuesday and Wednesday.
On Tuesday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 the Exhibition will kick off with an opening for Grade 5 parents and invited guests. Other members of the ISS community are warmly invited to attend during the rest of Tuesday or Wednesday morning.
