One place where this balance has been very obvious is in Grade 5 where students are busy preparing for their Exhibition. The Exhibition involves students working collaboratively to conduct an in-depth inquiry into real life issues or problems. Students collectively synthesise all of the essential elements of the PYP in ways that can be shared with the whole school community. It also provides teachers with a powerful and authentic process for assessing student understanding. This year's Exhibition will take place and Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th March and all parents are welcome to attend.
Construction Next Week
So far we have heard very little noise from the construction site and it has been having no impact upon teaching and learning at ISS. Indeed with the very high sound reduction fence outside the school it is often easy to forget that the site is there.
Next week might be a little noisier as they will be drilling work to construct the discharge well for underground water. This work is expected to take about 5 days. We are in constant liaison with the construction team to ensure that any impact to ISS is kept to an absolute minimum.
Mandarin Blog
Thank you everyone who took time to provide feedback to us about the Mandarin programme at ISS. Your feedback was very helpful.
One issue that was raised was that many of you felt you did not know what was happening in the Mandarin classes. To address this there is now a new Mandarin blog which we hope will keep you better informed about what your child is learning in Mandarin and how you can assist them.
A big thank you to our Mandarin staff Ms Yan Ping, Ms Linda and Ms Bei in being so proactive in responding to parent feedback.
