I would encourage parents to be as involved in school life as they can. Remember that a school is not just a community for your children but one for you as well. A key role in building this community is played by the PTA and I am looking forward to attending the first PTA meeting this Monday (1st of September) in the Elementary School MPR at 1:30.
The PTA is a great way to meet other parents and become an active member of the ISS community. I know the PTA have some great ideas for helping new and returning parents to get the most out of being members of ISS and there will be more details given at that meeting.
The most recent PTA newsletter can be found by clicking here and contains loads of information about up coming PTA events. One of these is the introduction of a regular Wednesday morning coffee mornings in the canteen between 8 am and 10 a.m. This will give parents a great opportunity to meet up and get to know each other and enjoy our new canteen.
Whilst I hope that most of you will be members of the ISS community for a long time, I am aware that the fluid nature of international living means that some of you will need to withdraw students from the school during the school year. If you do need to withdraw your child please have familiarised yourself with the procedures outlined in the ISS Regulations Handbook . In the Handbook you will find details of our fee protection scheme and other important school procedures, including those relating to the withdrawal of students.
As the year is moving on quickly and dates from the calendar that seemed a long way away are now coming close, a reminder that in two weeks time, Friday 12th September, the school will be closed for a teacher training day.
