It was wonderful to see so many parents today at the Sports Day. All of the students competed hard and enjoyed the experience. We were very lucky with the weather and the haze and I'd like to take this opportunity to give a special thanks to Mr Nathan and Mr Roy for their excellent organisation of the event.
Talented Teachers
ISS teachers have been very busy over the last couple of weeks presenting at workshops and conferences.
Yang Ping presented at the Innovative Global Education workshops in Shanghai on creativity in Chinese classrooms.
Nathan Horne presented at the Tasmania PE Teachers Conference
Colin Gallagher presented at the Next Generation Learning Spaces conference here in Singapore.
Tamera Musiowsky had an article published by the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD)
Toni Favilli has trained to be an IB Workshop Leader and site visitor
Sharyn Skrtic who is already an experienced IB Workshop Leader has now qualified to be an IB site visitor
It is wonderful to work at a school whose talented teachers contribute so much, not just to the learning of students at ISS, but to developing great teaching practice around the world.
Hari Raya Haji Holiday: Thursday 24th September
This coming Thursday 24th September school will be closed for the celebration of Hari Raya Haji.
Marking the end of the Haj, Hari Raya Haji, also known as Eid al-Adha or “Festival of Sacrifice”, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham)’s faith and trust in God, demonstrated through his willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail (Ishmael) as an act of submission to God’s command.
I would like to wish those of you in our community who are celebrating Hari Raya Haji 'Selamat Menyambut Hari Raya Haji'. For those of you who are and those of you who are not celebrating Hari Raya Haji I hope you all have an enjoyable and relaxing break from school on Thursday.
International Day 9th October

I look forward to seeing many parents here on the day. In next week's blog I will post the full itinerary for the day. Please note that unlike in previous years this event will be a full day event ending at 2:25.
