The ISS Vision Statement is to ensure that we are 'Educating to make a difference'. A great example of this was shown by the Grade 5 Market Day this week. Students from Grade 5 created their own small businesses to raise money for KIVA an mirco finance organization that helps people around the world to make a difference in their lives by getting their own small businesses and projects up an running.
Not only did the Market Day make a difference in the lives of our Grade 5 students who, learned and applied many new skills, but also in the lives of those people that ,via Kiva, Grade 5 will help. It is these sort of activities that make ISS such a special place to learn where our students can be empowered by their own learning to make a positive difference in the world around them.

ISA's
One of the most important questions for parents is always, “How is my child doing?”. A related question is ‘Compared to what?” This is a particularly critical question for families away from home, where it is hard to know how systems, and standards, compare. Until recently it has been difficult for any international school to answer these questions in a really substantial way, because the international school network has not had access to a form of external assessment normed on international standards. This has now changed, with the development of The International Schools’ Assessment (ISA). On February 2nd and 3rd students in Grade 3,4,5, 6, 7,8 will be sitting the ISA (Grades 9 and 10 will sit them the week latter.
